I really don't want to give too much away because I think that you should experience this wonderful film without having read or seen (too many) spoilers. :) I had gone into it having read the book (DUH) and having watched a great deal of behind-the-scenes footage from the film. Some things I did not do before watching it was read the script and even read through the illustrated movie companion. I knew the story but I didn't want to know everything about the movie's story so, as much as I could, I held back.....
Performance-wise, I think everyone did a spot on job of playing their characters. Robert Pattinson NAILED Edward Cullen. Forgetting about the looks - because Robert is a very attractive guy - he played him oh-so well. He was tortured, self-deprecating, protective, noble, fierce, curious, frustrated, amazed and amazing. He mesmerized me on-screen. Kristen Stewart, I thought, was great casting for Bella. She looks how I pictured Bella would look and she played the part how I thought it should be played. She was clumsy, shy, besotted, dazzled, curious, scared, pained, and determined.
During the scenes with Edward and Bella, I literally felt taken in by them. Not that I wanted to but I couldn't pull my eyes away from the screen when they were on. I've read Twilight more than once but I had to hear every word, every ounce of dialogue because I just had to hear these scenes that I had come to love from the book come alive on screen. (So take note...PLEASE don't ruin it for yourself or others.....watch the movie in AWED silence like I did.)
The meadow scene was different (as I think we can all tell from the trailer and tv spots) but I loved it. Truly, I thought it was perfect.
The kiss....no way I'm giving too much away here but I thought it was just as it should be and, LITERALLY, I felt like I had butterflies in my stomach as I was watching it. The chemistry between Rob and Kristen was apparent here. *sigh*
The fight....WOW. Nuff said. Enjoy it for yourself.
Prom....Robert Pattinson in a suit! Verra, verra nice......another great scene of many, many great scenes. There is definitely an ending that gives way to New Moon (which had better get made).
Okay, not too detailed but I hope enough to tantalize you even more. I will be gladly seeing it again three more times this week. Um, yeah......
